  • Bacon, beer, and a whole lot of bourbon 🥓🍺🥃That's the theme of the "Bukowski," the cocktail from Hildegard Bar in Berlin. The Bukowski is one of the bar's "talking cocktails" inspired by various literary works and their authors. If you mention you're a fan, the bar owner will lend you his personal copy of Bukowski's poems to enjoy while you imbibe. Made with bacon-infused Bulleit Bourbon, Dubonnet, Orinoco bitters, and a side beer to wash it down. Cheers!
  • Hope everyone had a great weekend! This is the "Space Explorer" from Hildegard bar in Berlin. The cocktail's name is appropriate because once consumed, this drink will launch you to a galaxy far far away. It's made with Appleton 12, Bacardi 8, Overproof 73% Rum, Homemade Falernum syrup, lime, grapefruit, cinnamon, and absinthe. Rocket fuel not necessary. Cheers! 🍹👽🚀
  • Here's a way to spice up your Monday: the "Kinski" from Hildegard Bar in Berlin. It's a spicy, smoky cocktail made with mezcal, fig chutney, grapefruit, and Sal de Gusano, which literally translates to "worm salt." Sal de Gusano is a mixture of ground peppers, salt, and ground fried larvae, and it is an essential ingredient in traditional Oaxacan cooking. Garnished with orange and an extra green chili, the acidic flavors work together with the spice to really light your mouth on fire, while at the same time delivering that mezcal smokiness that I love so much. 🔥🔥More to come from Hildegard Bar, this place is amazing.
  • What did you get up to over the weekend? I had myself a dinner date by candlelight, a delicious bouillabaisse, and several outstanding cocktails at @pantry_berlin. My only regret is that the lighting was so low, I couldn't get a good picture of the interior, but I doubt any picture would have done this restaurant justice. This is the "Moscow to Mumbai" made with vodka, assam aroma mixed with fresh lemon, ginger beer, and simple syrup. From the cocktails to the cuisine to the company, everything about my experience at Pantry was exceptional. It's a shame Monday is just around the corner... Cheers everybody! 🥃😁
  • It's February, love is in the air, and the date night with unachievable expectations will soon be upon us. So where to go for Valentine's Day? If you're in Berlin, I would head to the cocktail bar in the Michelberger Hotel. The bar space bleeds into the lobby, so you can either take up a table close to the talented barmen, or cozy up in cushioned chairs in a corner made for two. This sexy couple is made up of two fantastic, original cocktails: on the left is the "Caribbean Penicillin" made with rum, lemon, honey, and root of galangal. On the right is the "Mountain Negroni" which I mentioned in a previous post, and remains my favorite drink in Berlin. Cheers! 🍸🍸
  • A bottle so nice, I couldn't decide which side of the bottle I wanted to show 😁This is the "Mountain Negroni" from the cocktail bar in the Michelberger Hotel in Berlin. I can easily say this is the best cocktail I've had in months, and the stuff in that gorgeous bottle is the reason why. It's called Michelberger Mountain, and it's technically a schnapps, but it proved a more-than-worthy substitute for gin. A unique liquor in combination with masterful mixology made this version of a Negroni one that I won't be forgetting any time soon.
